A Digital Detox That Will Reshape Your Entire Day.

Join me on a 21-day digital detox. But first read about why it's necessary and how this simple shift may change your life.

---

I’m addicted to my phone. In many ways it’s my journal. Throughout the day I check emails, text, write, create, post, like, share, read and surf. Granted some of this is necessary, informative and even inspiring. Yet I can likely decrease my check-ins by half and still take care of priorities. I may even discover that I’m more productive.

You can say the same for any digital device. More time on the screen means less time connecting to others or letting your unadulterated creative juices flow. Information over-load also drives you further away from your own center and can create a sense of disconnect, anxiety or leave a constant residue of stress in your system.

It’s a hot topic these days with a ton of studies revealing that consciously spacing out our digital time leads to better concentration and focus, more creativity and an overall happier life-balance in both our health and relationships. Even Wikipedia is talking about the need for a digital detox! More and more it’s becoming a normal term and a very real need.

As the inspirational Arianna Huffington says, “Disconnecting from the digital world will help you reconnect to your wisdom, intuition and creativity.” And this is from a highly successful game-changing woman who learned the hard way. Yeah, I’ll have what she’s having, thanks.

We are in an incredible era. The many ways we connect, create and share with technology is amazing. However the prolific overindulgence and the loss of present connection (or obsession with self) needs a break from time to time so that we don’t totally burn out and exhaust our innate magic.

I can almost guarantee that starting your day in a more intentional way will reshape everything.

What is one of the first things you do when you wake up?

If it has anything to do with your ‘device’ then this 21-day challenge might be life changing for you. It will give you a hands-on opportunity to experience what it’s like to start your day differently.

WHAT TO DO: For the next 21 days consecutively, do not check your phone or any digital device for the first hour upon waking (for example if you wake up at 7am do not check your digital device until 8am, etc). No email, no texting, no social media. Don't even check the weather.

You will have more time for: breakfast, your fave morning beverage, journaling or reading, meditation and devotion time, yoga or other movement practices, a less mind-numbing commute, less external noise, more ease and calm, more space to let your own brilliance unfold before you dump other info in.

JUST FOR AN HOUR! You can do this. Mark the starting and ending date in your calendar to make it real and trackable.

I'm doing this with you! So let's hold each other accountable and become healthy shining examples for fierce life balance.

(*Note: If this is something you already do, flip it and stay off all screens an hour before bed for 21 days consecutively.)

Now it's your turn to share! Are you on board? Have you done anything like this before? Please leave your comments + insights below. And share this with a friend so they come on board too!
